• Photographs of your breasts will be taken before the surgery, to compare the results afterwards.
• If you smoke, you will have to give up on it at least 6 weeks prior to surgery.
• Any anti-inflammatory drugs must be stopped before and during surgery. They can increase bleeding.
• Mammogram will be taken before the surgery to examine the internal health of your breasts.
• You will be instructed to wear a sports bra till few weeks after surgery.
• You must have someone to drive you to the clinic and back home after the surgery.
• General anesthesia will be administered to complete the surgery.
• Your surgeon will brief you and your care-giver properly about the recovery period and after-care.
• The mild pain in chest area which you may feel after the surgery, will subside in a day or two. You can have the pain-killers prescribed by your doctor.
• Till about a few days after the surgery, your breasts will feel tighter and sensitive. You will feel a little difficulty to raise or stretch your arms. This will be only for a few days of recovery.
• If you have external sutures, they will be removed in about a week. If your surgeon used tissue glue or tape, it will fall off on its own in a week or two.
• You may be able to return to work within a few days to a week, depending on the nature of your job.
• You should refrain from lifting, pulling or pushing anything that causes pain and limit strenuous activity or upper body twisting if this causes discomfort for two to three weeks.
